If you purchase a costume with a feather train you will need to shake out your costume and let hang so the feathers re-fluff for about 20 min. You will have some shedding, but it will lessen over time. You can minimize this with using a fine mist hairspray. Nothing heavy and sticky. You can hand wash the bodice or spot clean. Do not get the feathers wet, they are not colorfast and will bleed color.
